The practices and philosophies of yoga are vast and ancient. Over 2000 years ago, sage Patanjali is said to have encapsulated many of these teachings into 196 illuminated sentences, widely known today as the Yoga Sutra. Investigate the readings at the core of yogic theory in a Friday evening study this Fall. Book two, Sadhana Pada, contains well-springs of wisdom on growing steadiness and ease in daily life. This chapter introduces us to the eight-limbed path of yoga, including methods for focusing and settling, through practices such pranayama and dharana. Sessions are designed to de-mystify concepts central to the teachings, engage together in discourse, and practice short, guided meditations.

Translations of the Yoga Sutra are welcome but not required.
