Harmonium Workshop for All!
with Debra Marks
November 10 — 1:00 - 3:00pm
No musical experience or instrument needed, just a desire to play and have fun! This workshop is a great opportunity to experiment with this beautiful instrument, or to re-energize your existing practice. Together we will experience the healing benefits of sound, vibration and mantra that will surround and infuse us in beauty ♪
By the end of our time together, you will be playing vibrational scales, chords, and even leading mantra if you want! We will explore the basics of playing the harmonium, an air-reed organ; learn basic notes, chords and melody; and use breath practices to enhance play & singing, and to care for your voice. You will have the opportunity to lead OMs and a simple kirtan (call and response chant). You will also receive a workbook with tips, basic chords & practice cards of familiar mantra, kirtan and bhajan (devotional songs) to encourage your on-going practice. Let’s have some fun!
Bonus!
From 3 – 4:30 after the workshop, we will be leading the monthly kirtan at Uttara. Workshop students have the chance to play one of the chants that we learned together during the workshop!!! It is an amazing experience.
Please let us know if you will be bringing a harmonium.
$40 for the two-hour workshop; $32 for Uttara Unlimited Members
