Saturday January 21, 2023 & Sunday January 22, 2023 11:00 am – 6:00 pm (14 hours Yoga Alliance CEU’s)
The “Dharma of the Yoga Teacher” weekend intensive will delve into exploring your Dharma (true calling or path) as a yoga instructor. Discovering your Dharma is some of the most important work you can do as a teacher.
As a yoga teacher, it can be overwhelming deciding what type of student you want to teach, what area of study you want to focus on, and what you want your teaching to look like in the future. You may want to work primarily with athletes, beginners, pregnant women, or individuals with disabilities. You may dream of leading workshops or teaching a series class on how to achieve inversions. The list goes on and on and it can be challenging to muddle through the process. Dharma is an extremely profound concept that is difficult to explain, but in general we can say it means the intended path of each individual person.
This workshop is intended to help you hone focus in your teachings and look within to discover your authentic and greatest self as a teacher. It is believed when you do what you are meant to do, everything you have been seeking will naturally manifest with ease and thus, opportunities will serendipitously fall into place.
To know this about ourselves is not an easy task and few actually know their purpose with absolute certainty. You will explore through group discussions, contemplation, journaling, reading, and various yoga practices aimed at uncovering your true calling as a teacher. You will investigate Dharma through the lens of Ayurveda as Dharma is one of the four life cycles (Purushartha) as well as examine the Buddhist approach to Dharma.
As it may take years of experience and practice to fully understand your Dharma, this weekend is intended to point you in the right direction so that you may realize your true calling.
While this workshop is being offered as part of our 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, it is also a stand-alone session open to all yoga instructors. Fourteen continuing education units (CEUs) are offered through Yoga Alliance.
$325 early bird (by January 14) / $350 (after January 14)
