Kathy Knizner

RYT-200

Kathy’s approach to teaching yoga is to help cultivate internal awareness of one’s body, mind and spirit in a way that is respectful of each student’s journey on the mat and in life.

Through an introduction to yoga over 20 years ago, Kathy experienced, for the first time, what it truly meant, and felt like, to slow down and give needed attention to her body and breath – to be present. Yoga became, and continues to be, Kathy’s entryway into an ever-changing understanding of caring for her body and noticing habitual ways of thinking that contribute to choices that can keep her off balance and out of sorts with her true nature. Kathy received her 200 hours yoga teacher training through the Sun and Moon Studio in Arlington, VA in 2015 and is certified through Yoga Alliance. Her training also includes Yoga for Healthy Aging certification through Baxter Bell, MD, and Melia Meza, E-RYT (2017), Yin Yoga and Myofascial Release training with Jo Phee, E-RYT (2017), Gentle is the New Advanced with Jay Brown, E-RYT (2019), Eden Energy Medicine year-long Foundation Course (2016), and various master teacher seminars (including Eric Schiffman, Sarah Powers, Melina Meza and Leslie Kaminoff).
Kathy’s teaching incorporates the traditional Eight Limb Path (which includes the practices of poses, breathwork, and meditation) along with energy work (meridians, chakras, Chinese medicine) and Myofascial Release. Influences include Viniyoga, Therapeutic Yoga, Insight Yoga, Eden Energy Medicine, wisdom writings and poetry.
