Saturday, August 8 1:00-3:00 pm
-- In the West, Yang Yoga or athletic muscle based yoga is the most common type of yoga practiced. Through time, if a type of Restorative or Yin Yoga is not practiced, the body will weaken and the joints of the body can become susceptible to injury. Yin Yoga increases one’s ability to perform Yang Yoga. By having healthier, lubricated, flexible joints, athletic practices eventually become easier. Yin Yoga is performed to stretch the connective tissues of the body. Areas of concentration include the hips, thighs and lower spine.
Yin Yoga is the perfect compliment for anyone who practices any type of athletic yoga, as it helps to release tension within and around the connective tissues of the body. The concepts of bodily energy maps are used to gain a deeper understanding of how and why Yoga works. Overall, this style is characterized by long holds, intense breath work, and a calm meditative atmosphere.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels/ages 16+ and will consist of an introduction to Yin Yoga concepts, a Yin Yoga Class, and a guided Deep Relaxation; please pre-register, fee $20.

Restorative yoga uses lots of props and blankets to allow you to arrange the body and relax into the poses. “Nidra” means sleep – and yogic sleep is not like regular rest. We’ll begin with gentle, soothing yoga poses; move into several long-hold restoratives; and then to savasana, during which you will be guided through a complete relaxation of the body and a deep state of inner stillness. Please pre-register so we have enough props; drop in class, class packs apply.
Sunday, August 15 2:00-4:00
